TAKE THAT EXTRA STEP…for safety’s sake!

We do not recommend and encourage persons or students NOT to cross at EDWIN and ST. VINCENT especially between times 8am to 9am.  There is NO crossing guard to assist persons and students at this location due to the safety concern with vehicular traffic, the way the road is designed as well as students going across Aiken Street.  This area is a busy corner intersection.

Crossing guards continue to be located at :

Aiken Street and St. Vincent to assist to cross Aiken Street NOT  St. Vincent Street

Eliza Street and St. Vincent to assist to cross Eliza street NOT St. Vincent Street

Ontario Launches New COVID-19 Screening Tool to Help Protect Students and Staff

September 16, 2020

New Tool Part of the Government’s Plan for the Safe Reopening of Schools

TORONTO — The Ontario government launched a new voluntary interactive screening tool to assist parents, students and staff with the daily assessment of COVID-19 symptoms and risk factors that is required before attending school. The results will let parents, students, and education staff know whether they should attend school each day or guide at-risk individuals to proper resources. This tool is another layer of prevention that the province is using to protect the health and safety of students, staff, and the communities where they live and work.

Details were provided today by Premier Doug Ford, Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, Stephen Lecce, Minister of Education, and Peter Bethlenfalvy, President of the Treasury Board.

Dear Parents & Guardians,

As we prepare for the reopening of schools for student learning, there are many logistical pieces which we are working on to keep students, staff & families safe. At this time, I have some solid details to share & will have more details to share in the coming days. The Board has worked tirelessly to create a Return to School Protocol, which I strongly encourage you to access for full details from the Bluewater District School Board website.

Some key points and responses to questions I have heard are:

  1. COVID screening of students must be completed daily by parents, there is a link in the board protocol. Any student displaying COVID symptoms during the day must be picked up immediately, please ensure you have a plan for immediate pick up to occur.
  2. Students are asked to have indoor & outdoor shoes, lunch kits and a water bottle (all personal lunch garbage will go home with students). Please ensure everything is clearly labelled.
  3. There will be no pizza or milk sales occurring at this time. We will contact parents regarding refunding pre-payments from last year in the coming weeks.
  4. Kindergarten to Grade 3 students are not required to wear masks but may do so. Students will be required to social distance.
  5. Parents, when on Board property, must wear a mask and must not congregate in groups, social distancing of two meters is preferred at all times.
  6. There will be no entry by parents or guardians into the school building unless it is an emergency. Please communicate any arrangements for late arrivals, appointments & busing or pick up changes to the office manager prior to the day when possible. Please use the buzzer and camera system to the right of the main entrance when arriving at the school.
  7. As of August 26 we are planning a staggered entrance.

Junior and Senior Kindergarten students in both French and English Tracks will start on Tuesday September 8.

Grades 1 – 3 students in both French and English Tracks will start on Wednesday September 9.

Please remember this is only a partial outline. The full Protocol is on the Board website and parents are expected to read through the protocol, it is a living document and therefore areas may change or be added.

Thank you so very much for your positive support and patience as we work together to ensure the safest environment possible.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

              Tracy Dinsmore,
